A huge industry worth millions of dollars is being developed with the raising of pet birds. None of the classes of birds other than the foreign birds are proved to be the most lucrative items for business in this industry. Among the numerous breeds of exotic birds, the Macaw, African grey parrots, Finches, Caiques are desirable by bird lovers from all over the global. Each year thousands of foreign birds are hached and they are being transported to other nations for marketing. The exotic birds are being transferred via ships and that too in a bad condition where their existence becomes a question. The freedom of these exotic birds is snapped and they are trapped under the chains of human greed. The average life span of most of the foreign birds is not much and they die even before their fifth year. Canaries, budgies, lovebirds and other type of small birds undergoes terrible pain and suffering while they are being shipped and even in the first year of their birth they die. Since the shipping of exotic birds is so uncomfortable only few birds are able to live and are handed to the owners. Who can be held responsible for playing with the life of these harmless birds? The dealers and sometimes the customers were to be blamed as they remain ill prepared with natural instincts of the birds like screaming, biting and chewing wooden items. The dealers and the consumers consider only the wildness and vicious nature of the exotic birds and thus they treat these creatures with negligence. Few of such incidents about ill treatment of these poor birds include beating and battering, throwing them to basement prisons, and ignorance of even feeding them are shameful and pathetic. These kinds of incidents leads to internal wounds or broken bones of these poor creatures and thus their life span shortened. Even after surviving the atrocities of shipping, the exotic birds have to tolerate abuse even in the owners homes or zoos. In a domestic scenario any abuse of pets like dogs and cats are often complained to the concerned authorities by the neighbors or animal lovers. However, in case of birds, the abuses are carried within the internal parameters of a house and unfortunately remain secret from any viewer. Exotic birds are delicate creatures and they want a natural surroundings to keep themselves away from their violence and other destructive instincts. Moreover when these breed of birds are imprisoned in a small and barred cage they sustain emotional turmoil and even from obsessive compulsive disorder. With small cages the exotic vertebrates also suffers from severe inhibition, insanity and with continued screaming. The exotic birds when adopted as pets can be a friend for life and is always a fun to be with them. If you want exotic birds as a pet then you need to realize their natural instincts of being messy and too much noisy. It is necessary for both dealers and owners to understand that these wonder created by God need compassion and love.
